đș Thinking of mounting your TV yourself? Read this first!
Before you drill, take a moment to plan your setup the right way:
â Sit down on your couch and check the ideal viewing height. Mark the spot with painterâs tape so your TV is eye-level and wonât strain your neck.
â Measure from that mark down to the mount holes. This ensures the TV lines up perfectly with your roomâs layoutâsaving you from patching unnecessary holes.
đ Finding the studs
Use a battery-powered stud finder to detect both studs and hidden electrical wiring.
Or, try a magnetic stud finder to locate screws/nails holding the drywall to the studs. Move it slowly across the wall until it sticks.
Once youâve found the studs, always confirm with a small test drill before mounting.
đ ïž Mounting tips for safety:
Pre-drill holes before driving in lag bolts. This keeps your wall studs intact and makes for a stronger hold.
If you donât have studs in the right spot and your TV is lightweight, heavy-duty toggle bolts can be usedâbut studs are always safer.
After installing the mount, put some medium weight on it to test its integrity before hanging your TV. (At Assembly On Call, we always do this step to guarantee strength.)
When lifting larger TVs, always use two sets of hands to avoid accidents and wall damage.
đ© Red Flag Safety Tip: Never let kids or pets play, sit, or nap under a wall-mounted TV, mirror, or heavy objectâeven if itâs professionally installed. Accidents can happen, and prevention is key.
â ïž Remember: Mounting a TV may look simple, but mistakes can be costly and dangerous. For precision, safety, and peace of mind, trust a professional.
đ At Assembly On Call, we mount TVs with craftsmanship and integrityâso you can relax and enjoy the view.
